Mission Statement
The Medical Massage Therapy Institute was created to provide educational resources for newly-licensed and advanced massage therapists. Our goal is to improve the skills and knowledge of massage therapists through the production of audio and video lectures, online articles, interactive review programs, educational podcasts and through our live workshops.
Our focus is upon the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of musculoskeletal disorders.
In the book Myofascial Pain and Dysfunction: The Trigger Point Manual, coauthor David Simons, M.D. stated that "muscle is an orphan organ and that no medical specialty claims it." We will address this discrepancy.
Host
Dr Gene Desepoli has been a licensed massage therapist for over 25 years. He is also a chiropractor, a respiratory therapist, and a certified strength and conditioning specialist. He is nationally certified in myofascial trigger point therapy and has advanced training in the assessment and treatment of muscular disorders.
